Chapter 2

Completely surrounded by people, like us, our normals, I wavered to the entrancing music. Softly I felt Robbie behind me, pushed against me by either the crowd or his will, I hoped the later. I wanted to reach around and kiss him, still hungry for the kiss I didn't take, but I didn't. People were all around us, they didn't care, but it still felt odd. No one knew out secret, let alone seen a public display. I didn't have to wait long for fulfillment.

Robbie, descret and covert, gripped my hand and pulled me back from my key position in the crowd. Slowly he moved me through the crowd, back to a corner by the bathrooms. I could here him breathing and he moved out of the dark and into the bathroom. No one was in there, just numbers on the wall and no toilet papers in the stalls. He locked the door, pulling against it to make sure.

"Is this better?" He asked, wrapping his arms around my neck. We started to dance to the muted music.

"Much." I whispered into his ear, and pulling him tight, "But should we be locking the door to the bathroom?" I smiled.

"Yes, we should. Now, do you like this?" He asked parting my lips with his then adding tongue that tasted slightly like clove cigarettes. I responded by exchanging his offer and grabbing his head for better control.

It was now his turn to leave me waiting. Before I could open my eyes he reached behind him and unlocked the door and was gone into the crowd. His shadow took my breath away, perfect and shimmering. His aura sent shivers up my spine and then back down to my toes.

"Where'd you go?" Tim asked when I returned from the bathroom, "And who have you been kissing?"

"What do you mean?" I blushed.

"Your lipstick is smeared." He yelled to get over the pounding bass of Murphy's voice.

Damn, I forgot to check. "No one, really."

"Who is she?" Darlene asked.

"Some stranger." I said and walked away deeper into the crowd. I spotted Robbie, his lips were a perfect even color, he always remembered to check. Then my favorite song started, "Cuts you Up". I sang as loud as I could, along with the many others on the floor and even in the balcony.

"Do you all want to crash back at my house?" Robbie asked, "'cause I sure as Hell am not going to drive you all home." He started the car, to leave the venue. He was driving, Tim was in the passenger, Darlene was behind Tim, and I was in straight veiw of Robbie's eyes in the rear-view-mirror.

"If you put it that way." Tim said, "But I wouldn't be leaving my car there anyways." he laughed.

"Not you." Robbie sneared, "Them." he backed out of the spot and started forward into the line of exiting cars.

"Sure I'll stay, no one's at my home anyways." I shrugged, strategically, checking his eyes in the reflection. I could tell he was smiling.

"Can I catch a ride home with you, Tim?" Darlene asked, "I'm on your way and I'll keep you awake." The answere I expected. I knew what was happening between them, sneaking around, just like Robbie and I accept more obvious, hopefully.

"Sure, no problem, just don't poke me in the eye while I'm driving."

"I wouldn't think of it." She faked being hurt, patting her heart accordingly.

"So, who was that bird you were kissing?" Tim asked me in a teasing fashion.

"Huh?" Robbie, snapped his head around to look at me in the back seat.

"Just some stranger, I don't know her." I laughed, starring straight at Robbie, he reluctantly turned around and watched where he was driving.

"Was she pretty?" Darlene teased, poking me in the ribs.

"To the extreem." I squealed, then smiled, "I think, it was dark."

"And she didn't give you her number?" Tim laughed, "Just jumped on you and then left."

"Tasted pretty drunk." I smiled.

Robbie glared at me through the mirror. I wasn't sure if he knew exactly what they were talking about, but I could tell I had some explaining to do. I sat back, stretching my back, easing into a better position to sleep, if only for a short time. A sudden break check through me into my lap belt for that wonderful "smashed package" feeling.

"Fuckin' A!" I yelled squirming around. I glanced out of my window and saw a lady, drunk and stumbling, being pulled from in front of the car. He date, I suppose, was being extreemly apoligetic and thanked Robbie for his quick responce.

"Damn psychos, jumping in front of cars...stupid people shouldn't drink." Robbie mumbled, edging forward and down the street once again. Slowly he twisted his fingers, on his right hand, around themselves. In an attempt to beat his habit of chewing his nails, he had started this one, wringing each finger dry of blood with the other fingers of the same hand.

He was so cute when he would mumble, he always got an intence, dazed, grimice that made me think of snoopy (when he was mad). I almost reached out and grabbed his velvet jacket, just to tell him. Resisting the urge I repositioned myself, in a less comfortable but safer position.

Dispite the awkward position, and glances in the rearview, I still managed to fall into a light sleep. The stage of slumber was light enough to see the lights flashing past my lids, but no too light to notice what song was playing over the speakers. Eventually, I decided to open my eyes founding my self a block from Robbie's house, a good thing considering how tired he looked in the mirror.

"Wakie, wakie, sleeping butes." He shouted with his hoarse voice. Darlene snapped to attention, "Thank you for riding Pathfinder Robbie, please exit with your own personal door and feel free to stumble and fall upon entry to the night's air."

"Thanks Robbie," Darlene cooed, hugging him from behind and lightly kissing his cheek before exiting.

Shrugging slightly, Tim fallowed suit with a slightly more pronounced kiss. "See you Monday."

"Ahh, the love makes me sick." Robbie smiled, suddenly stunned when I fallowed the lead of the other two. "Okay." He mumbled breathlessly.

"Hate to break a trend." I smiled.

Tim lead a sleepy Darlene to his car at the end of the driveway by a lazy hand. He waved while shutting her door and winked before opening his. It was Tim's way of saying, "Something's up."

"Well, do you think we blew the cover?" I asked.

"What? The wink?" Robbie asked, "If we did, it's because of your kiss on the cheek."

"Or your reaction to the kiss I got." I teased, watching them pull slowly out and down the street.

"Who the Hell did you kiss!" Robbie hissed, recallng the anger I'd seen in his eyes earlier.

"Some boyish girl in the bathroom."

"What!" He shook his head agressively, tossing his hair to his left side.

I sighed, "You. You sexy moron." I smiled, punching his arm slightly, "Let's get out of view." I winked, heading towards the house.

Robbie rolled his eyes but fallowed, none the less. He swiftly unlocked the door, and made sure that his parents weren't home, by checking the garage. "In case they caught and early flight." He explained.

It was all the urging I needed from him. I practically lept on him, shoving him against the wall, my mouth on his. I begain moving my way down to his neck and started playing with the button on the top of his pants.

"God, greedy?" He asked, pulling my face back to his for a quick peck, "Stay a while, will ya?"

I slowed down slightly, "Sorry," I appologized, "Just trying to get around to... you know.... before I pass out." I laughed, shaking my head and sitting down on the couch.

"By all means then, don't stop." He smiled, stradleing my legs and kissing me, pushing my down with his almost equal weight.

"Lust much?"

"Love it, no?" He smiled quickly and pulled at my shirt.

"Shouldn't we do this somewhere, else?" I sugested, as he wrestled my shirt off, "Like a place with a door that locks."

"If you say so." He grabbed my bundled up shirt and helped my up with one hand. Together we excaped to his black-light, lit room.
